Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary lived deep in the forest in a tiny cottage and sold herbal remedies for a living.  Folks living in the town called her “Bloody Mary,” and they thought she was a witch.  None dared cross the old crone for fear that their cows would go dry, their food stores rot away before winter, their children take sick of fever, or any number of terrible things a witch would do to them.

Then the little girls in the village began to disappear one by one.  No one could find out where they went.  Grief-stricken families searched the woods, the local buildings, and all the houses and barns, but they couldn’t’ seem to find the missing girls.

A few brave parents went to Bloody Mary’s home in the woods to see if she had taken the girls, but she denied any knowledge of the disappearances. However, her appearance had changed – she looked younger.

Then came a night when the daughter of the miller rose from her bed and walked outside – following an enchantment that no one else could hear.  The miller’s wife was up with a toothache and was treating it in the kitchen.  She screamed to her husband to wake him, and they tried to stop the girl, but she kept breaking away.

The desperate cries of the miller and his wife woke the neighbors.  They came to assist the couple. Suddenly a sharp-eyed farmer gave a shout and pointed towards a strange light at the edge of the woods.  A few townsmen followed him out in the field and saw Bloody Mary standing beside an oak tree, holding a magic wand that was pointed at the Miller’s house.  The townsmen grabbed their guns and pitchforks and ran toward the witch..  When she heard the commotion, Bloody Mary broke off her spell and fled back in the woods.  The sharp-eyed farmer shot at her and hit her in the hip.  She fell to the ground, where they leapt upon her and carried her into the field.  They built a bonfire and burned her at the stake.

As she burned, Bloody Mary cursed and screamed at the villagers.  If anyone mentioned her name aloud before a mirror, she would send her spirit to revenge herself upon them for her terrible death.  When she was dead, the villagers went to her house and found the graves of the little girls she had murdered.  She had used their blood to make her young.

From this day on, anyone foolish enough to say her name aloud three times before a mirror will summon the spirit of the witch!

The Haunted Bedroom

Some years ago, on the corner of Bourbon street and St. Peter Street, there was a black apartment building.  No one had been living there, even though the apartments were fairly new.  The reason they didn’t go there was because all the locals from that area knew it was haunted.  Even though it was only one of the apartments, nobody wanted to be near that building. The foreigners who came to that area didn’t know better, and stayed in the apartment because it was the penthouse and had a spectacular view.

About five years earlier, a newly married couple moved into the haunted apartment.  Apartment number 1031 sounds ordinary, right? Wrong!  The couple were of British descent and had just had a newborn baby girl.  About a week after they had moved in, and had just finished setting things up, the young wife’s husband died.  Nobody knew anything about his death except that there were black handprints around his neck.  The young wife moved out immediately afterward.  She thought someone was after her.

A couple of years later, no more than a year ago, a young lady who had just finished college moved into the apartment.  The week she finished setting it up weird things started happening.  Furniture was being moved around, whole rooms were messed up – it looked like battles were being fought there.

She got really worried and started to do some research..  She went to the library and talked to local people.  She found out that a few years back some people, including the young husband, and died there. She also found out that their souls came back every year, starting on October 1st, to battle.  The battles would grow until the biggest battle of all on October 31st.  Every year since the beginning of that first October 1st, one victim has been captured by the demons of Bourbon Street’s King, and are turned into one of them to help in the battle.

The girl wanted to stop these battles and one of the possessed souls, a woman, told her that if she wanted to stop the demon king, she had to steal his special amulet.  Once she had the amulet, she had to say, “Free the people of the demon king, and let the battle end with the angels of St. Peter’s street declared as the winners!”

The young woman prepared for the night – October 31st.  It was the next night, and she was almost scared to death.  The night came when she was to defeat the demon king,  She hid in the kitchen, and at 9:00p.m. she saw the king and his fellow demons, along with St. Peter’s angels, arrive in the bedroom.  She finally got up enough courage to sneak in during the war at about 10:30p.m.  She snuck unto the bedroom, but the demon king spotted her.  He had yet another victim in his trap!

That is the end of this story.  It just goes to show you that not everything has a happy ending.

Oh, and if you wanted to know a little more about the future of this story, then listen up.  The Demon of Bourbon Street and the angels of St. Peter’s Street are still battling today.  The Demon King is still capturing victims, just like Natalie, the one who tried to defeat the Demon King.

Haunted House

There’s a house upon the hilltop.
I will not go inside.
For that is where witches live,
Where ghosts and goblins hide.

Tonight they have their party.
All the lights are burning bright.
Oh, I will not go inside
The haunted house tonight.

The demons there are whirling,
And the spirits swirl around.
They sing their songs to Halloween
“Come join the fun,” they shout.

But I do not want to go there.
So, I run with all my might.
Oh, I will not go inside
The haunted house tonight!
