PTO Volunteer Opportunities

2009-2010 School Year

 

 

Golf Tournament (August-Annual Event):

Fund raiser for HTCS.  Mark your calendar for next year!

Po-Boy Sale (date TBA):

Po-boy sale is an annual fund raising event that allows the PTO to do student or teacher sponsored activities throughout the year.  These activities include Boo to Do Halloween Carnival, Mardi Gras Parade etc. 

Volunteers will be needed the day of the event to make po-boys, assist with handing out when picked-up on site, and delivery to various locations.

Coastal CleanUP (date TBA):

This is a time for families to volunteer to clean up Hancock Co.  HTCS is assigned a certain section to assist with clean up.  Volunteers needed to assist with this philanthropic project.

Boo to Do (October 30):

Boo to Do will held on Friday, October 30, and is an event all the children love.  Each class is responsible for “running” a game. 

Volunteers are needed throughout the day.  The event is open during school.  Set up starts at 7:30ish and clean-up is done around 3:30 or 4pm.

Book Fair (November):

Book Fair runs for a week.  Volunteers are needed to work the fair and times are usually three hour shifts.

Breakfast with St. Nick (December):

Teacher sponsored breakfast for families to enjoy.  Last year PTO sponsored having a picture display with Santa.  May do additional activities based on participation.

Catholic Schools Week (date TBA):

Various activities are held during Catholic schools week.  One such activity is open house.  This allows parents interested in Holy Trinity to visit the school and meet some of our teachers.

Volunteers are usually needed during this event to act as “hostess” or possibly tour guides.  More details will follow as event nears.

Mardi Gras Parade (February):

The Mardi Gras parade is usually held the Friday morning before Mardi Gras break.  This is a big event with a court, grand marshal, etc.  Each class is usually a different theme and rides in wagon floats and/or walks.  Parents are required to accompany their child (depending on grade level).  Last year the event was held in the gym due to road construction more details will come as this event draws near.

Chef’s Soirre (date TBA):

Chef’s Soirre is an annual funds raiser for OLA and Holy Trinity.  It is a wonderful event that celebrates the talents of local chefs with a silent auction to raise money for both schools’ “building fund.”

Volunteers will be needed to aid with decorations, set-up, working the event, silent auction activities, etc.  Individuals will be working on this event several days prior to the actual date, more details to follow.

 

Chairpersons: TBA, several committees will be created this year to continue our successful event.  Chairs will be needed as committees are created!!

 

Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8):

Last year the PTO sponsored a luncheon and car wash along with several other activities to show our teachers how much they are valued by all of us.

Volunteers will be needed during this week to help carry out planed activities.

All activities are planned contingent upon volunteer response and participation.  Chairs are needed in the areas indicated above.  If you are interested in serving on a committee please contact your room mom or Karyn Matheson, PTO President.
