Title I Basic (Title I, Part A)
No Child Left Behind Act of 2001
Federal
Legislation Link
The purpose of Title I is to
provide local educational agencies with extra resources to help improve student
learning and to ensure that all children have the same opportunity to meet
challenging State academic standards. Title I funding may be used in two ways:
schoolwide programming or targeted-assistance programming (for private schools.
Targeted-Assistance Program
Holy Trinity Catholic Elementary
The Bay St. Louis-Waveland
School District is the fiscal agent for a cooperative program serving eligible
students at Holy Trinity Elementary.
The Director of Federal Programs for the Bay St. Louis-Waveland School District
is Vikki Wescovich - Phone: 228-467-0444.
Use
of funds includes a certified teacher employed by the Bay St. Louis-Waveland
School District to provide academic interventions for eligible students at Holy
Trinity, computer assisted instruction, and research based professional development.
The
students who participate in the program receive the advantages of
computer-assisted instruction in the Title I classroom. Each instructional session is 15 minutes
every Monday and Tuesday in subject areas for which each student
qualifies (Math and/or Language-Reading).
The students do not miss extended periods of time from the classroom,
recess, or special classes.
Last
year the students who participated in the program made significant gains
directly related to the time spent in Title One instruction.
We
are excited about the program and the extra help that students are afforded
through Title One.
